Barista - part-time and full-time

Overview

Solid Ground Cafe Baristas are courteous to customers and focused on quality service and product. The Barista will greet customers, answer their questions, take orders correctly and efficiently, accept payments, and prepare and serve beverages and food. A Barista will also maintain a clean and well-stocked workplace and dining area, update displays, and continuously expand their knowledge of food and beverage quality controls, preparation methods, and presentation.

 To succeed on the Solid Ground Cafe team, a team member must be committed to providing customers with excellent service. All team members must be positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and polite.

Duties & Responsibilities

A Barista’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Setup of dining area and service counter before daily open

  • Taking customer orders and informing customers of menu options and changes

  • Processing payment transactions

  • Preparing ingredients for beverages

  • Preparing and serving beverages during service according to recipes

  • Stocking and serving food items to customers

  • Assisting daily cook as needed

  • Maintaining a clean and orderly dining and service area throughout their shift

  • Maintain stock of dishes, mugs, to-go containers, paper goods, and utensils throughout the day

  • Perform point-of-sale cash-in and cash-out procedures correctly, as needed

  • Clean dining and service areas according to closing procedure

  • Operate food and beverage machines and perform daily preventative maintenance as trained

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience in food or beverage preparation or customer service preferred

  • Basic math skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English required

  • Must be able to lift and/or move items up to 30 lbs without assistance

  • Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods

  • Regularly required to handle hot and cold food and beverages

  • Flexibility to work various shifts

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States

Line Cook - part-time and full-time

Overview

Solid Ground Cafe Line Cooks are courteous to customers and focused on quality service and product. The Line Cook will learn and master our breakfast and lunch menu and execute orders in a timely manner. A Line Cook will also maintain a clean and well-stocked workplace and continuously expand their knowledge of food and beverage quality controls, preparation methods, and presentation.

To succeed on the Solid Ground Cafe team, a team member must be committed to providing customers with excellent service. All team members must be positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and polite. 

Duties & Responsibilities

A Line Cook’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Following direction of head chef

  • Setup line before service

  • Baking off bakery items before service as well as keeping bakery case stocked

  • Cooking breakfast and lunch sandwiches

  • Assisting head chef with prep

  • Breakdown and cleaning of the line

  • Keeping inventory and tools cleaned and stocked

  • Assisting barista and cashier as needed

  • Closing procedures with entire SGC team

  • Must be trained to use POS and sub in as cashier when needed

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience as line or prep cook preferred

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Basic math skills

  • Working English language skills preferred

  • Must be able to lift and/or move items up to 30 lbs without assistance

  • Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods

  • Flexibility to work various shifts

  • Ability to work cleanly in an open kitchen

  • Knowledge of food safety sanitation principles
